What are the details I need to know about participating in the SVMT (Silicon Valley Math Tournament)?

  • About: The Silicon Valley Math Tournament is an annual tournament hosted by RM Tournaments that gives students an opportunity to apply their knowledge, creativity and math skills to solve challenging problems.
  • Registration Details: Open to students in grades 1 through 8, with specific divisions for different grade levels.
  • Tournament Details: Includes both individual and team events, testing various mathematical skills.
  • Format: Events include a Speed Round (50 problems in 30 minutes) and an Accuracy Round (25 problems in 60 minutes).
  • Schedule: The competition runs in May-June annually, with several time slots available. Tournament for 2024 has been concluded.
  • Entry Fee: $25 per student. Students can participate for free if the entry fee will cause financial hardships. Please send an email to tournaments@randommath.com requesting a fee waiver.
  • Tournament Rules: Participants need a working internet connection for the online format, and all exams are proctored over video call - anyone who is unaccounted for in the proctored sessions will be disqualified. Calculators, graph papers, geometrical instruments, and electronics are not permitted during the examination.
  • Awards: Awards include certificates and trophies for the top 10 individuals from each grade, cash awards for school teams, and scholarships for top students.
